Concrete polishing. Nationwide Coverage – Concrete & Stone Solutions offers top-quality concrete polishing and cleaning service for our domestic and commercial customers across the UK.
Polished to an exceptional shine, a concrete floor is a stunning addition to a room but is also hugely practical. It has a life cycle cost that approaches two thirds less than any other traditional floor covering such as carpet or real wood and has the potential to endure for the lifespan of the building.
While it is low maintenance, it does need to have a little help to keep in this stunning condition.
What is concrete polishing?
Concrete polishing is a professional service that aims to ensure these floor areas keep their high shine, clear colour and smooth finish. Because they are generally almost maintenance-free, this will be some of the only work required for the floor apart from the occasion pass with a vacuum cleaner or a kitchen mop.
The key to concrete polishing is to restore the shine of the floor without adding a layer that makes it slippery. It may look like the high shine will make the floor easy to skid on, but this isn’t the case. Polished concrete is very functional and no more slippery than a natural stone version. But if you use the wrong type of cleaning material on it, then you can make it slippery, just like with other flooring types.
Concrete floors are hypoallergenic and naturally dust free. There’s no chance of bacteria, mould or fungi growing on it and there’s nowhere for odours or smells to generate. The high gloss ‘wet look’ has the appearance of marble at a much lower cost.
But like any material, it can suffer from wear, scratches and chemical damage. That’s why having professional concrete polishing ensures that it retains all the benefits you love. The process works just as well on commercial floors, schools, hospitals, government buildings and shops.
How concrete polishing works
If you have a concrete floor that needs cleaning or polishing, we will visit the property to assess it. Depending on the finish, we would then use the right cleaning method. A few of the finishes we have special processes for include:
- Polished cream – where just the surface is polished
- Salt and pepper effect – where some aggregate is exposed and polished as well as the surface
- Full exposure – where the concrete is ground away to show the aggregate then polished
