Floor grinding. Having a natural stone floor is a stunning way to finish any room.  These materials have a distinctive look, a tough surface and a long lifespan.  While maintenance on them is relatively minimal, some work is required periodically.  Top of the list of jobs you need to do to keep your natural stone floor in top condition is grinding.  But why would your floors need it?

What is natural stone floor grinding?

Grinding might sound a bit severe when you are talking about a stone floor such as marble.  But the truth is, there’s no better way to restore the fine finish to the flooring and to ensure it lasts the longest time. Grinding process will completely transform the floor, it will look like it has never before even when it was new. This is the look you wanted when you had them installed.

There are two main grinding processes – wet or dry.  Both of these have their pros and cons, and we assess what the best option for you is. This will depend on the type of the floor to be grinded.

What are the benefits of natural stone grinding?

Some floors, with years of use, can become pitted, cracked and uneven, leading to chipped edges, damage to furnishings and unsafe trip hazards. This may even be the case in new properties, where floors have not been installed effectively.

This is where our floor grinding services come in. With our high-quality griding equipment and products, we can ensure that all cracks/holes will be repaired and any lippage is eliminated, resulting in a beautiful smooth, even floor with stone seamlessly levelled to grout lines which is impossible to achieve even by the best installers. The removal of any uneven joining between grout lines and stone also means your grout will never be dirty – dirty mop water will not get pushed into the grout, meaning unattractive staining will not occur.

Once your floor is beautifully levelled, we can polish it to any finish – matte, high sheen or mirror – entirely dependent on your individual preference. Both matte and high sheen will significantly improve the look of your surface, while mirror will hide grout lines almost entirely.

Floor grinding is a quick, highly effective way to get beautifully smooth, attractive looking flooring, free from lippage, cracks, holes and grime.
